This very modern take on concrete housing is by BAK Architects. Built in the Mar Azul forest in Buenos Aires the materials contrast well with the natural wooded environment, yet the yet the design doesn’t mar the scenery as such with older 60’s style cement block housing.

Personally I am a fan of using concrete in design. It is a very versatile material. Unfortunately due to some ugly developments in the 60’s and 70’s the material has fallen out of favour.

In this case the theme of concrete runs throughout the entire house and has been finished to a high degree giving a smooth even appearance. The house is however very angular and boxy for my taste. This form seems however to be common among modern designs in a sense of minimal design. However, I believe designs can still be minimal and involve curves.
