The Boukyo House is designed by the Japanese firm Nakayama Architects. It is a beautiful combination of modern contemporary form and Japanese tradition.

The outside finishing is one of the most intriguing parts of the build. The surface is covered in panels of steel which rust and change as it is affected by the atmosphere. Therefore it’s in a constant state of change.

This is a complete contrast to the interior which is very modern and minimalist using block colours on the walls, most of which are dark. However, this dark colour scheme isn’t imposing since the architects have carefully considered the light transition. As such lots of natural light can permeate the house.
